Philosophy

Morgan is deeply passionate about advocating for families and helping them thrive. She believes that healing in relationships is possible when both individuals are willing to put in the work. Prioritizing mental, physical, and relational wellness, Morgan holds mental health in the highest regard. She believes that individuals, couples, and families can experience meaningful transformation through therapy.  In sessions, Morgan partners with her clients to create a healing experience, providing a safe space to explore emotions, while helping them work toward their therapeutic and relational goals.

Focus

Morgan works with individuals, couples, and families seeking to rebuild and strengthen their relationships. She is particularly skilled in supporting those affected by Betrayal trauma, including teens, adult children, betrayed partners, and couples on a path to healing. Her approach also emphasizes reconnecting with one’s authentic self, building resilience, and shaping a purposeful life using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills.

Credentials

East Valley Family Therapy is excited to welcome Morgan to our team as a Clinical Intern, working under the supervision of Lawan Mortensen.  Morgan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Family Life from Brigham Young University and is actively pursuing her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University, where she’s on track to graduate in December 2025.  She is also an Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS) candidate, working toward dual certification as both a coach and clinician. With APSATS training focused on supporting betrayed children and families, Morgan has been working as a board-certified coach in this field for the past year and has prior coaching experience as a DBT skills trainer, as well as a mentor for teenage girls.

Personal Life

Morgan loves her vibrant, joy-filled life with her family. As a mother of two young boys, her days are full of energy and fun. She and her husband are both looking forward to graduating from graduate school in 2025 in Marriage and Family Therapy and Physical Therapy, respectively. In her free time, Morgan enjoys being active – whether hiking, playing pickleball, or paddleboarding down the Salt River. She loves connecting with other moms, and is often found at local parks with groups of friends and their children. Always seeking meaningful connections, Morgan aims to live life to the fullest while fostering lasting relationships and friendships.
