Allison Ellsworth, LAMFT
Mesa and Queen Creek Office & Online
Philosophy
Allison sincerely loves helping others find healing, change, and connection within their relationships. Understanding and open, Allison recognizes her clients’ courage and seeks to honor their trust. She wants nothing more than to walk alongside them in their goals as they seek new ways to get unstuck and to flourish.
Approaching challenges with curiosity and compassion, Allison creates a safe environment in which to work together to find healing. Being with her, one is immediately put at ease. Above all else in her work, Allison wants to help clients feel deeply understood. She desires to help them gain insight into why things became and have stayed stuck, and then to help guide them in finding the connections that will lead to lasting healing and change.
Emphasis
Allison is keenly interested in working with couples, and is currently pursuing advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in order to specialize in couple’s therapy. Allison enjoys helping couples recognize their interactions that get them stuck and feeling alone, and helping bridge the resulting gaps in their relationship. She is trained in treating women experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety disorders. Allison has also been trained in one of the leading treatments for trauma therapy – EMDR. She has been able to help clients work through their own stuck places as a result of little and big traumatic experiences.
Credentials
Allison graduated with a Master’s of Science degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from BYU in 2012. She studied Child & Family Development with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy in Georgia for an additional two years. She has been seeing clients since 2009 and has been working as an LAMFT (Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist) in Arizona since 2014, working closely with Jonathan Harrop, LMFT, as her supervisor.
Personal Life
An Arizonan native, Allison deeply loves AZ! Taking along her trusty Arizona state flag to photo-document her adventures, Allison loves going hiking or exploring up and down all parts of this great state. She also loves early morning exercise, going out for ice cream for a good chat, and watching old movies. Personal and purposeful, Allison loves to connect, lift, and serve those around her. Since she was young she wanted to be a teacher – and for the past five years she has been fulfilling that dream as she teaches online university level marriage and family classes. She enjoys spending time with family and friends most of all, but will also sneak in time to geek out about the statistics of a good UGA collegiate football game, and enjoys watching the Phoenix Suns.
